internship program for high school students focused on environmental stewardship, civic engagement, and community planning
Summer Shore Corps is RISE's most popular teen program, providing experience for high school students to collaborate with local businesses and partner organizations to develop their team-building skills.
Students who want to join the summer 2025 session should keep an eye out for the application opening (below) on Monday, April 7, 2025.
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY: Students must be in 9th-12th grade, and live in or attend school in the Rockaway peninsula in New York. Students who do not live in New York City are NOT eligible to apply. You will work on projects with professionals in fields of environmental science, civic engagement, food systems, and community planning to gain a better appreciation of the natural resources of the Rockaway peninsula. As part of the program, you will take part in water safety, CPR training, surfing, kayaking, and biking throughout the summer.
Summer Shore Corps is a paid internship, and all students accepted to the program will receive up to a $1,000 stipend for participation.
Dates: July 8 through August 15, 2025
Location: RISE, 58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Far Rockaway, NY 11692
Class Days/Times: Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
